End of another year...My resolutions for 2011

So the year is coming to a close... this so called concept of time seem to has left me asking for more moments to get things done. This year was quite mediocre unlike my previous years of randomness. I find myself asking if I have changed for the better or am I withdrawing from my real self. This year I found myself writing a "Things To Do" list everyday which is completely new to me. I gradually stop writing poetry, painting, and taking different turns on the road of life. Have I just faded into normalcy? Perhaps, sometimes we need some normalcy to keep our life and ourselves balance from the crazy shit that we do... once in a while or like me all the time.

Anyways, I never understood why we begin the year with a resolution. Seriously? Some of us say I'm going to lose weight and yada yada yada but never follow through. But I'm going to make one and attempt to remind myself of it till the end of the year.

For most of you that know me personally, you know that I try to live a very eco-conscious life whether it means participating in sustainable acts like buying produce that is available within 30 miles of me, picking up trash on the side of the road, recycling, and wearing eco-friendly clothing (btw, I sell eco-friendly products such as: bamboo soaps, organic shirts, towels, & baby products. If you are interested leave a comment with your email so I can send you a catalog). I'm totally rambling on. I know fashion is a big thing and for many of us, especially women we have overflowing closets. Has anyone ever gone to their local landfills? It is wildly disturbing that we live in a over consuming society. So... this is what I'm going to try to do since I'm like every woman in this world who loves to shop. I'm going to make an attempt to not purchase anything and recycle the clothing that's already in my closet. I have a dress that I purchased 12 years ago and it is still Spring worthy. I will post photos of my recycled fashion journey.

My last resolution is to get my Eco-Conscious business up and running. Get my products in more stores. For those who have purchased earth friendly products from me, you know that my main goal is to educate the public about making a difference in the environment and the world. This year, I passed my this natural store with a group of people asking for donation to save the rainforest. One of the girls ask me if I wanted to save the world. I told her that I already was. She said, "Using reusable bag isn't enough." The nerve of that Bitch!! Hassling people for money to save the rainforest is really making a big difference?!?! She isn't even the one that plant the trees. My point is it doesn't have to be of magnitude to make a difference. I strongly believe that making small changes in our lives leads to BIG changes.

Things to ponder for the coming new year. What kind of changes are you going to make to make that difference, to reaching that goal, & most importantly to make yourself a better person.

  1. I will strive to use less paper towels. Sounds stupid, but I use a lot.

  2. Paper towels too, dear...when you blow your nose.
